The Golden Mouse is a beautiful, bright golden-cinnamon mouse of southeastern forests that is highly arboreal and builds elaborate, spherical nests of leaves and bark in vines, shrubs, and low tree branches. It has a prehensile-like tail grip that helps it navigate tangles of vegetation. Golden mice are uncommonly docile for wild rodents and are not prone to biting when handled.
