Safety note: May carry rabies — do not approach or handle.

The Gray Myotis is a federally endangered cave bat found only in the cave regions of the southeastern United States. Unlike most bats, it uses caves year-round—for summer maternity colonies and for hibernation—making it especially vulnerable to cave disturbance. Gray myotis populations have partially recovered since cave closures and protection efforts began in the 1970s.
