The Proboscis Bat is a tiny, cryptically patterned bat that roosts in linear groups of up to 40 on tree trunks and boulders overhanging rivers and streams in tropical lowlands. Its wavy grayish-brown fur and motionless posture make it nearly invisible against bark. It has a pointed, elongated nose that gives it a distinctive profile. It occurs in lowland Mexico and Central America.
