The Pygmy Three-toed Sloth is the world's smallest and most critically endangered sloth, found only on Isla Escudo de Veraguas off the coast of Panama. It is approximately 40% smaller than mainland three-toed sloths—a classic island dwarfism pattern. With fewer than 100 individuals estimated, it is one of the most threatened mammals in the Americas.
