The False Killer Whale is a large, all-dark dolphin that superficially resembles the killer whale and forms tight social bonds within pods that persist for decades. It is unusually willing to share food with other individuals, including members of different species, and mixed-species associations with bottlenose dolphins have been documented off Hawaii. Hawaiian insular false killer whales are listed as an endangered distinct population segment.
