The Giant Pocket Gopher is a huge pocket gopher of tropical lowlands from southern Mexico through Central America, one of the largest gopher species in the world. It inhabits deep, moist soils of tropical forests and agricultural land, creating large burrow systems. Its outsized front claws and powerful forequarters make it an extraordinarily efficient tunnel excavator.
