The Oncilla is the smallest spotted cat in North America, barely larger than a domestic cat, and ranges from Central America through South America. It inhabits cloud forests and highland grasslands, overlapping in range with the ocelot and margay but exploiting a different microhabitat. The oncilla is increasingly threatened by deforestation of cloud forest habitats in Central America.
