The Eurasian Oystercatcher is the widespread European counterpart of the American Oystercatcher and has appeared very rarely on the Atlantic Coast of North America, with records from Newfoundland and Bermuda. Like its American relative it has a bold black-and-white pattern and long orange-red bill. It is the national bird of the Faeroe Islands.
