Illustration of Common Yellowthroat (Geothlypis trichas)

The Common Yellowthroat is one of the most abundant warblers in North America, found in marshes and dense shrubs across the continent. The male's bold black mask and bright yellow throat are unmistakable; his 'witchety-witchety-witchety' song is a hallmark of wetland edges. Females lack the mask and are often mistaken for other species.
