The Curve-billed Thrasher is the most common thrasher in the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts, instantly recognizable by its boldly spotted breast and strongly curved bill. Its sharp, two-note 'whit-wheet!' contact call is one of the signature sounds of desert lowlands. It often builds its bulky nest in cholla cactus, whose spines provide formidable nest protection.
