The Ultronia Underwing is a medium-sized underwing moth with mottled gray-and-black forewings and bright red hindwings with a broad black median band. It is one of the most commonly encountered underwing moths at lights across the eastern United States. Like its relatives it rests cryptically on bark by day.

Larvae: cherry and plum. Adults: fruit and sap
