Deppe's Squirrel is a small, dull olive-gray tree squirrel of tropical and subtropical forests from Mexico through Costa Rica. It is less conspicuous than other tropical squirrels, foraging quietly on the forest floor and in the lower canopy for seeds and fruit. The species was named for Ferdinand Deppe, a German naturalist who collected it in Mexico in the early 19th century.
