The Ruby-crowned Kinglet is a tiny, olive-green bird that flicks its wings nervously and constantly — a distinctive behavioral hallmark. The male's ruby crown patch is usually concealed but flashes brilliantly when the bird is excited or alarmed. Despite its minuscule size, it produces an astonishingly loud and complex song that can carry over a large area.

Habitat
Coniferous forests in summer; mixed forests and shrubs in winter
Diet
Spiders, insects, berries, and sap from sapsucker wells
