The Large Yellow Underwing is an introduced European noctuid now among the most abundant moths at lights across North America, particularly in the Pacific Northwest where it was first established. Its vivid yellow-and-black hindwings create a startling flash when flushed from resting. Larvae are polyphagous cutworms damaging to garden plants.
