Safety note: May carry rabies — do not approach or handle.
The Long-legged Myotis is a medium-sized western bat named for relatively long hind limbs and a large tail membrane that enable fast, agile flight in open spaces above the forest canopy. It is one of the more common bats in mountainous western forests and forms maternity colonies in tree snags and rock crevices. In summer it hawks insects over forest openings and along ridgelines at dusk.
