The Long-tailed Weasel is the most widely distributed mustelid in North America, found from southern Canada to northern South America. It has a slender, elongated body that allows it to pursue rodents through narrow burrows and tunnels. Like the ermine, northern populations turn white in winter to match snowy surroundings.
