The Margay is a small, exquisitely arboreal spotted cat that spends most of its life in trees, with wide, soft paw pads and ankles that can rotate 180 degrees—allowing it to descend trees head-first and hang from branches by one hind foot. It has been documented imitating the calls of pied tamarins to lure them closer. In North America it is extremely rare, occasionally recorded in southern Texas.
