Hammond's Flycatcher is a small, dark Empidonax flycatcher of mature conifer forests in western mountains. It is one of the most difficult birds to identify in North America — separating it from the Dusky and Gray Flycatchers requires careful attention to call, bill shape, and primary projection. Voice is the most reliable identification feature.
