Henslow's Sparrow is one of the most range-restricted and declining grassland sparrows in North America, with a weak, hiccup-like 'tsi-lick' song that is easy to miss. It has an unusually large, flat olive head relative to its body. It requires large patches of ungrazed or lightly grazed grassland with accumulated thatch, a habitat type that has diminished severely.
