The Costa Rican Small-eared Shrew is an endemic shrew of the highland oak forests and paramo of Costa Rica and western Panama. It has the very small, nearly concealed ears and short tail characteristic of the Cryptotis genus. Its montane habitat makes it potentially vulnerable to climate change forcing its range to even higher elevations.
