The Cozumel Coati is a critically endangered island dwarf coati found only on Cozumel Island, where it has evolved to smaller size than mainland coatis over thousands of years of island isolation. Fewer than 200 individuals may remain as feral cats and dogs devastate populations. It is considered one of Mexico's most endangered endemic mammals.
