The Darien Pocket Gopher is a large, little-known tropical pocket gopher of the Darien region of eastern Panama, at the southern boundary of North America. It is known from very few specimens and its ecology is essentially undescribed. Large tropical pocket gophers in this genus are important burrowers in the soils of humid tropical forests.
