Lowbush Blueberry is the wild blueberry of the northeastern United States and Canada, producing sweet, intensely flavored small berries that are commercially harvested on a massive scale in Maine. It forms low mats in acidic, rocky, open habitats and fires help maintain its dominance by eliminating competing vegetation. Bears, grouse, foxes, and many birds consume the berries.
