The La Plata Dolphin is a small, long-snouted dolphin that inhabits the coastal Atlantic waters of South America from Brazil to Argentina and approaches the southern tip of Central America in its northern distribution. Despite its name it is not restricted to the La Plata estuary but occurs in marine coastal waters. It has the longest beak relative to body size of any cetacean.
