Botteri's Sparrow is a secretive grassland sparrow that is extremely difficult to detect when not singing. It is found in the US only in southeastern Arizona and southern Texas, where it inhabits sacaton grass and coastal prairies. The song — a series of accelerating, bouncing chips — is given from the top of a grass stalk. It closely resembles Cassin's Sparrow but has a plain brownish tail.
