The Big Free-tailed Bat is a large, muscular bat of the American Southwest with large, wrinkled ears joined at the midline and a thick, heavy tail that extends far beyond its tail membrane. It is a high, fast flier that forages well above the ground on large moths. Its calls can be heard with the naked ear as a soft, metallic chirp on warm summer nights.
