The Omao is Hawaii's most common native thrush, endemic to the Big Island. It is found in native ohia and tree fern forests above 3,500 feet elevation. It has a beautiful, flute-like song and is a key seed disperser for native Hawaiian forests. Populations are threatened by avian malaria and introduced predators.
