The Jalapan Pine Vole is a fossorial vole endemic to a small area of Veracruz and Puebla states in Mexico, living in the soils of moist pine forests. It has reduced eyes and ear pinnae reflecting its primarily subterranean lifestyle. This is one of the most geographically restricted voles in North America.
