Southern Magnolia is one of the most iconic trees of the American South, with massive creamy-white fragrant flowers up to 12 inches across and large, lustrous evergreen leaves. It is the state flower of Mississippi and state tree of Louisiana. The red seeds in the cone-like fruiting clusters are consumed by many birds including wood thrushes, vireos, and mockingbirds.
