The Hispid Pocket Gopher is a large, coarse-furred pocket gopher of tropical and subtropical lowlands in Mexico and Central America, one of the few gophers associated with humid forest soils. It is distinguished by its rough, bristly pelage rather than the silky fur typical of Thomomys species. This gopher reaches the southern United States borderlands through extreme south Texas.
