The Hopi Chipmunk is a pale, desert-adapted chipmunk of the Colorado Plateau, found among pinon-juniper woodlands and canyon country of Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico. Its cryptic sandy tones help it blend into sandstone canyon walls where it forages for pinon nuts and juniper berries. Named in honor of the Hopi people native to the Four Corners region.
