Wild Strawberry is a low creeping plant of open fields, meadows, and forest edges that produces tiny but intensely flavorful red berries in June. It is the parent species of the modern cultivated strawberry, which was created by crossing it with a Chilean species. The berries are eaten by over 60 bird and mammal species.
