The Subgothic Dart is a typical dart moth (cutworm family) with intricately patterned gray-and-brown wings bearing the characteristic forewing spots of Feltia. Adults fly in late summer and fall and are attracted to light. The cutworm larva feeds underground on roots and at the base of plants, a strategy shared across hundreds of noctuid dart species.
