The Sulphur-winged Grasshopper is a band-winged grasshopper that reveals brilliant yellow hindwings in flash-display during flight, then disappears when it lands in brown leaf litter. This startle-and-disappear strategy confuses pursuing predators. Males produce a soft crackling sound during flight. It is an early spring species in the East.
