Illustration of Sycamore Lace Bug (Corythucha ciliata)

The Sycamore Lace Bug is a tiny, exquisitely beautiful bug whose wings are covered with a delicate lace-like network of ridges that gives the family its common name. Colonies on the undersides of sycamore leaves cause silvery stippling of the upper leaf surface, a tell-tale sign of infestation. Despite its beauty it can be a significant pest of street trees.
