Safety note: May carry rabies — do not approach or handle.

Underwood's Mastiff Bat is a large free-tailed bat of the Sonoran Desert borderlands, rarely encountered and known primarily from a handful of records in southern Arizona and Mexico. Like the western mastiff bat, it requires a high drop point—cliff or building—to gain flight speed. Its massive ears, joined at the base, sweep forward over the head when the bat is at rest.

Habitat
Arid canyons and desert cliffs of southern Arizona and Mexico
