Spring Whitlowgrass is a tiny annual in the mustard family, barely 4 inches tall, that blooms on rocky outcrops and bare soil in February and March, among the first flowering plants of the year. Its white flowers provide critical early pollen for queen bumblebees and early-emerging native bees. Its small size makes it easy to overlook but ecologically important.
