Shooting Star is a graceful prairie wildflower with reflexed pink-to-white petals that sweep back from a prominent yellow beak, resembling a shooting star in flight. It blooms in spring on rich prairies and open woods from the Appalachians to the Great Plains. Bumblebees are the primary pollinators, using buzz pollination to shake pollen from the anthers.
