The Black-billed Cuckoo is the black-billed counterpart of the Yellow-billed Cuckoo and is found mainly in northern and interior forests. It has a red eye ring and smaller tail spots than its more common relative. Both cuckoos are famous caterpillar specialists that consume hairy tent caterpillars other birds refuse. Its song is a rhythmic 'cu-cu-cu.'
