The Black-capped Vireo is a federally threatened vireo of juniper scrub in Texas and Oklahoma. The male's jet-black cap and white spectacles are unlike any other vireo. It is heavily parasitized by Brown-headed Cowbirds and requires scrubby, disturbance-dependent vegetation maintained by fire.
