The Blackpoll Warbler makes one of the longest migrations of any songbird in the world, flying nonstop over the Atlantic Ocean from New England to South America — a journey of up to 1,864 miles in 72 hours. Before migration it nearly doubles its body weight by gorging on insects. The breeding male has a distinctive solid black cap that contrasts with white cheeks.
