The Blue-throated Mountain-gem is the largest hummingbird that regularly occurs in the United States, found in the mountain canyons of southeastern Arizona and New Mexico. The male has a brilliant blue throat that glitters in the sun. It is surprisingly aggressive at flowers and feeders, dominating even the larger Rivoli's Hummingbird.
