The Mendocino Silkmoth is a medium-sized, richly patterned silkmoth endemic to northern California, with reddish-brown wings bearing prominent eyespots outlined in yellow, black, and white. It flies in late winter and early spring, one of the earliest silkmoths to emerge on the West Coast. Its specialized habitat requirements and limited range make it a sought-after find for moth enthusiasts.
