Red-flowering Currant is a native shrub of Pacific Northwest forests and woodlands that produces spectacular clusters of deep red-to-pink flowers in early spring, often before its leaves fully emerge. It is one of the most important early-season nectar plants for rufous and Anna's hummingbirds, which time their migration to coincide with its blooming.
