The Ribbed Pine Borer is a stout longhorn beetle with grayish-brown elytra bearing coarse ribs and dark irregular banding that blends well with rough tree bark. Adults overwinter as mature beetles inside pupal chambers and emerge early in spring — one of the first longhorns active each year. They are frequently found basking on dead pine logs and stumps.
