Say's Cicada is a medium-sized cicada of boreal pine and spruce forests, with orange-and-black banding on the abdomen that gives it a striking appearance. Its song is a series of short buzzes rather than the continuous drone of dog-day cicadas. It is an early summer species in the North and is often associated with jack pine barrens.
