Coast Live Oak is an iconic evergreen oak of the California coastal foothills, with massive, spreading canopies and spiny, holly-like leaves. A single large tree can support over 300 species of insects, making it one of the most ecologically important trees in California. Its acorns were the primary food staple for the indigenous peoples of California.
