Buller's Pocket Gopher is a medium-sized pocket gopher endemic to the western Sierra Madre of Jalisco and Nayarit states in Mexico, inhabiting the volcanic soils of montane pine-oak forests. Named for Walter Lawry Buller, the New Zealand ornithologist, this species is one of several poorly known Mexican endemic pocket gophers. Its burrowing contributes to soil aeration in montane agricultural areas.
