The South American Coati is the larger, more richly colored relative of the White-nosed Coati, found in South America, with its range reaching eastern Panama. Troops of females and young forage together through forest, using their flexible snouts to probe leaf litter for insects and lizards. It is an important seed disperser in South American rainforests.
