Pacific Crabapple is the only native apple in western North America, growing in moist forests, stream banks, and forest edges of the Pacific Coast from Alaska to California. Its white blossoms attract pollinators in spring, and the small yellow-to-red apples are consumed by bears, grouse, band-tailed pigeons, and many other species. It was an important food for coastal indigenous peoples.
